AdvisoryHQ: 2022 Ranking the Best Financial Advisors in Colorado

In 2022, Transform Wealth was recognized by AdvisoryHQ as one of the “11 Best Financial Advisors in Denver, Colorado Springs & Boulder, Colorado.”

AdvisoryHQ utilizes a “Top-Down Advisor Selection Methodology” based on a wide range of filters including fiduciary duty, independence, transparency, level of customized service, history of innovation, fee structure, quality of services provided, team excellence and wealth of experience.

Their methodology approach begins with developing a comprehensive list of advisory firms using publicly available sources and applying initial filters (fee structure, fiduciary duty, independence and scale of innovation). The approach is primarily a “fee-centric” structure minimizing the inherent conflicts of interest that come with selling and recommending financial products.

When performing their “deep-dive assessment”, AdvisoryHQ also considers:

  • Resource Availability: dedicated team of advisors and support staff
  • Fee Transparency: No hidden fees
  • Customized Services: Services tailored towards clients’ unique situations
  • Quality of Advisor’s Website: Ease of use and functionality
  • Open Door Policy: Encouraging questions and accessibility

Most firms selected do not realize they are being reviewed and ranked by AdvisoryHQ until after the ranking publication has been completed and published to the public.

Financial Advisor Magazine – 2021 FA’s RIA Ranking

In 2021, Transform Wealth was listed in Financial Advisor (FA) Magazine’s “2021 RIA Survey & Ranking, #263 out of 321 firms that made the list in the $1 Billion and Over Asset Category. In 2020, Transform Wealth was ranked #278 out of 314 firms in the same category.

FA‘s RIA survey is a ranking based on assets under management at year end of independent RIA firms that file their own ADV with the SEC. FA‘s RIA ranking orders firms from largest to smallest, based on AUM reported to FA Magazine by firms that voluntarily complete and submit FA‘s survey by the survey deadline. FA Magazine does its best to verify AUM by reviewing ADV forms. To be eligible for the ranking, firms must be independent registered investment advisors and file their own ADV statement with the SEC and provide financial planning and related services to individual clients. Firms must have at least $500 million in assets under management as of December 31, 2020 to be included in the print edition of Financial Advisor magazine’s 2021 RIA survey.

Financial Times – FT 300: Top Registered Investment Advisers

In 2020, Transform Wealth was recognized by Financial Times “FT 300: Top Registered Investment Advisers.” FT assesses registered investment advisers based on desirable traits for investors. They present “the Top 300 as an elite group, not a competitive ranking of one to 300.” FT examined the database of RIAs registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and selected those with more than $300 million in assets under management (AUM). More than 2,000 qualifying RIA companies were invited to be considered in the ranking, and of the 760 that applied, 300 made the final list. The formula FT uses to grade advisers is based on six broad factors:

  1. AUM: signals experience managing money and client trust
  2. AUM growth rate: can be a proxy for performance, as well as for asset retention and the ability to generate new business. Companies were assessed on three-year growth rates.
  3. Companies’ years of existence: indicates reliability and experience managing assets through different market environments.
  4. Compliance Record: provides evidence of past client disputes; a string of complaints can signal potential problems.
  5. Industry Certifications (CFA, CFP, etc): shows the company’s staff has industry knowledge and a professional commitment to investment skills.
  6. Online accessibility: shows a desire to provide easy access and transparent contact information.

Among the top factors in the scoring, AUM accounted for an average of 72% of each adviser’s score and growth rate accounted for an average of 15%. The FT placed a cap on the number of advisers from any one state, corresponding to the distribution of millionaires across the U.S. The research was conducted on behalf of the Financial Times by Ignites Research, a Financial Times sister publication.
